How the unscrambler finds words
The solver compares letter frequencies instead of trying every possible permutation. A candidate is accepted only when its repeated letters can be built from the rack; each question mark can stand in for one missing letter. That makes searches both accurate and responsive.
Use filters to find a better answer
Length limits are useful when the board has a fixed number of spaces. Starts-with, ends-with, and contains filters help when crossing letters are already known. Tile score sorting uses standard English-language tile values, but it does not include board bonuses.
Dictionary note: Results come from a broad, open English word list. It is not an official tournament dictionary, so acceptance can differ between games and editions.
Can I use more than one blank tile?
Yes. Enter one question mark for each blank, such as RETAINS?? for seven letters and two blanks. Each blank replaces one letter and contributes zero to the displayed tile score.
Why does a result fail in my game?
Games use different word lists. This solver includes uncommon, regional, and older spellings, so a matching set of letters does not guarantee a word is accepted in your game. Check its official dictionary before playing.
